The Gilmore Girls Target Market

During the Gilmore Girls tonight there was a commercial for Barbie Dolls. It's not like I was watching Saturday morning cartoons or something. Are they trying to tell me that Mattel's target market watches the Gilmore Girls? It's as if they want me to be ashamed to watch my favorite show. Besides, anyone of Barbie Doll age shouldn't be watching The Gilmore Girls because they are both sluts and it's awesome.

I think my favorite part of tonight's episode was the Swift Boats reference. By the way, I will not reveal what I read about The Gilmore Girls this week in Entertainment Weekly because it seemed to foreshadow a major plot development. You don't need it ruined for you like it was for me. Of course, I may have been misled.

I had noticed the Barbie ads, but that was on one of the GG reruns on ABC Family, and it was the middle of a Sunday afternoon, so it didn't seem *too* far away from Saturday morning. Didn't catch Barbie last night because I was too busy watching for local advertisers to contact--our WB station is a Sinclair affiliate. I will hate it if I have to boycott Gilmore Girls, but at least they're up to what, second season on DVD?

I don't think you have to worry about a little Barbie Doll commercial during your favorite show. However, if you are watching tv and you come across that horrible Jiffy Snack Bar commercial with the rastafarian elephants then you know you're watching crap. Have you seen that commercial? How does someone pitch that as an advertising idea?! It's crap and if you see it you know you must be watching crap. I should know...I don't have cable so I am often forced to watch crap.

As I haven't seen the sexy peanut commercial I can't judge...but I think the Jiffy Elephant commercial is racist. They do a rap. It's quite ridiculus. One elephant has a gold tusk.

I don't have the political wherewithal to boycott the Gilmore Girls even if Sinclair are a bunch of bastards. At least they are pre-empting Smallville to run their crappy propaganda. That show sucks anyway.

He has TiVo but doesn't like to watch it on any kind of delay even to skip the commercials. That would mean he's watching all of maybe 15 minutes behind what he could.

What a silly silly boy. That's the best thing about Tivo, setting it to record something or just pausing it for a little while and then being able to watch it without having to sit through Barbie commercials, but you still can finish watching it at the same time. Don't get me wrong, I love Gilmore Girls and would be very upset if I missed an episode, but that's pure mental illness if you can't bring yourself to watch it on a delay.

I don't know how you could watch it real time, the segments seem to go so fast and I don't think I could handle waiting for the commercials to end.
The thing I don't understand about this season is why Dean is becoming this incredible slut. I watch it for Loralie anyway, her streams of conciousness are so sexy. I don't mind her and Luke getting together but I've seen many shows fail after the sexual tensions find resolution.
Its nice to find another guy who's into the show, it's always nice to hear your comments Dan :)
