Tis the season...

...for crappy music. I love Xmas music. I don't care how cheesy it is. This is my 2004 Xmas mix CD cover and playlist. A couple of the songs aren't exactly Xmas songs, but I'm trying to reinvent them as such:

1. Here We Come A-Caroling by The Ray Conniff Singers
2. Spotlight on Xmas by Rufus Wainwright
3. Holy + Ivy by Iberis
4. I’ve Got Your Love To Keep Me Warm by Dean Martin
5. A Xmas Song by The Ravonettes
6. Step Into Xmas by Elton John
7. Little Jack Frost, Get Lost by Bing Crosby
8. Winter Wonderland by Peggy Lee
9. Xmas Medly by The Ray Conniff Singers
10. You’re So Cool by Hans Zimmer
11. Xmas Wrapping by The Waitresses
12. Jingle Bells by Lisa Loeb
13. I’d Like You For Xmas by Julie London
14. Noel Nouvelet by Iberis
15. Coventry Carol by Suzanne Vega
16. Have Yourself a Merry Little Xmas by Sinatra + Crosby
17. Joy To The World by The Ray Conniff Singers
18. Just Like Xmas by Low
19. The Way Old Friends Do by ABBA
20. Buy You A Ring by Huffamoose
21. Soulful Xmas by James Brown

I love that.
My sister and bro-in-law make a x-mas cd every year and send it instead of an x-mas card. Theirs are my favorite x-mas cds.

oh and ABBA totally kicks ass

Thanks for the CD! I haven't gotten my mail for about a week. I love the cover! Very creative.

Well, I guess I saw the song list before I got the CD. I only have myself to blame. Interesting list this year. Not many classics. I'll reserve judgment until I hear it all the way through.

Ray Conniff, Dean Martin, Peggy Lee, Julie London, Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby aren't classics?

Yay!Thank you!Your CD is one of my favorite anticipitions of the year! I love it!even enough for lots of exclamation points!!!

Of course those artists are classic. I just meant the songs aren't the ones I remember listening to from my mom's xmas album collection. I'm sure I'll love the cd. How could I not?

By Blogger hot babe, at 9:34 AM

Yes. Thank you for the CD.

One question though. If you don't care how cheesy or crappy the music is then how come no Amy Grant or Garth Brooks christmas songs?

Or is there a standard after all?

By Blogger Trekgeekscott, at 8:25 AM

Yes, how come no Amy Grant or Garth Brooks songs? And where are the festive Barenaked Ladies songs? Everyone knows how much you heart them. I just made you read the word "underwear." Ha ha, classic stuff.

By Blogger brent, at 9:54 AM

BNL made it onto Dan’s debut album, that’s how much he hearts them!

that *is* a creative cover. The Ray Conniff Singers! What else did they ever sing but Xmas songs??

By Blogger Kiddo78, at 3:26 PM

I have an entire album of Ray Conniff Singer "standards" and they totally rule. They were like the Kidz Bop of the 50's, but for adults.

PS Kiddo and Hot Babe sitting in a tree...heard it here first.

By Blogger brent, at 10:36 AM

Ummm...maybe sitting in a tree drinking cocktails and making fun of ppl below...unless she recently turned into a gay man..?!

By Blogger Kiddo78, at 12:26 PM

What? Kiddo, you don't remember making out? You're a real good kisser. Real good.

I was sad that you didn't include Blue Christmas by Elvis.

By Blogger LaraRain, at 7:00 AM

Sheryl Crow version of Blue Christmas appears on Kick Ass X-Mas vol. 3.

kids, Ray Conniff is absolutely aces. Serious good stuff. I'm sure everyone has a "But Dan, where is...." question, and not to be left out of the masses, my query is, but Dan, where is Burt Kaempfert? My parents must have been of a decidedly cheesier variety, and so I'll go out on a limb and ask what's Christmas without the "Christmas Wonderland" album by Burt Kaempfert? All that trumpet-y goodness! It's Christmas music your grandparents could stomach.
