Planetdan: A Year in Review

This graph from SiteMeter indicates Page Views and Page Visits on the planetdan blog index in 2004, and then out of curiosity I added stars to indicate the benchmark postings that got me the most hits:

4. Senior Pics Gallery (all gone... boooo!)

I don't know why some of those posts were popular, because some of them are admittedly pretty lame. It's clear that the Senior Pics gallery was the most popular, especially since the actual hits on those pages aren't even calculated on this chart (this chart only indicates hits on the blog index page). Too bad it no longer exists, because that was a traffic magnet.

I still get daily hits on my site from people searching for Whale Penis, Oompa Loompa, and Accidental Nudity, although I don't know where that last one comes from.

Yep, I'm here cause of the senior photos too. And although I'm glad I found the blog, I mourn for the photo gallery. What happened? The only decent excuse is if you were threatened with legal action by a very embarassed photographer.

The senior pics reeled me in and I have been hooked ever since. I didn't even know what a blog was before planetdan. I now am a full blown addict with a blog of my own.

One of my favs was "My baby likes menthols", but how could I choose just one?

I also got sucked into planetdan.net by Senior Pics. This is definitely the funniest site around- now I stop here before I go to The Onion or Page Six when I'm procrastinating at work. Also, it's the only blog I go to because all of the other ones I've seen are so unorganized and its hard to get to the funny stuff. Thanks Dan!

Yah, the senior pictures link was forwarded to me, and the Steven Seagal album cover and the link to the "Praying for Peace" artwork was what made me think I should stick around.

I was kind of freaked out by the thought of commenting on Planet Dan, since all those people I knew saw the senior picture thing and what if they were still coming and then found the blog I started right after that. Agh. But I'm over it.

I too came for the senior photos and instantly was hooked on PlanetDan. I don't know if the rest of you are aware of this or not, but the senior photos link was published in ReadyMade magazine. Perhaps that is why it received as much buzz as it did.

Yep, came for the Senior Pics, and now you're one of my "favorite" links...a pretty high honor! But seriously, I did love those pictures--and I have fond memories of the young man posing with his helmet, engulfed in flames. I only wish they were still around so that I could share the laughter with others. Every time I try to describe one of those pictures to someone, it just doesn't translate right. And your comments were brilliant.

Senior pics ruled! So sad that one person, again, had to ruin it for everyone.

I hope that carma visits the jerk who threatened you and makes his life void of any laughter, joy or friends til his dying day at age 104. Oh wait, he must be void of that already. Fine, I hope that the jerk get's sued for whatever reason and looses EVERYTHING! And contracts that herpies thing from your other post. And I hope he's reading this, so he knows, I've made a Carma wish for him, it should be there shortly.

While I did learn about your site from ReadyMade, I found myself instantly obsessed with your blog when the page opened up to a little post entitled "My Baby Likes Menthols." It still makes me laugh... in an IS THAT WOMAN SERIOUS kinda way, of course. Even though my friends think that I'm crazy (ok, they may be right) because I constantly check in to see what totally insane things you've unearthed, I remain a faithful Planet Dan visitor and fellow Point Break hater. Rock on Dan... no matter what Kirk Cameron says, you're a saint in my book.
