Stuff Gus Ate

This is Gus. He is my roommate's parents' dog who we are watching while they are on vacation:

No matter how well you try to hide things from his reach, he always seems to find something to eat when you are not looking. Such as:

He also ate K-Mack's taxes. And he is a pervert and peeps at me while I am showering. At least he hasn't shat on my couch.

....and that look in his eyes says "Go Ahead, Make My Day." He is clearly mocking you both....small dogs are great at mocking - my chihuahua looks at me the same way, like - "Yeah, what are you going to do about it? Swat me? Yeah, go ahead and swat me you big adult person, that will make you feel good about yourself." Damn small breeds.

Annie's got it right - small dogs can be little hellions. The behavior of my two schnauzers has definitely benefited from three maxims from terrier puppy-school:

1) Select chew toys for them, or they will select their own (the drapes, etc.);
2) Draw boundaries and communicate them clearly; and
3) Love them as if they were your children, but trust them as if they were a substance-abusing congenital liar with access to your credit information.

“Hawaii the Big Island” book bit the dust last night. Bad dog! After I yelled at him he wedged himself under the bed real good. Punishment? I don’t know, it was amusing though.

Gus is a downright natty fella. I bet if you get him a nice striped bow-tie, he'll stop chewing your stuff. Also, I think he might be a Republican. He looks a little bit like Senator Rick Santorum.
