I got me a brand new concert T-shirt and BigDubb scored me half a tambourine at the Decemberists concert in Minneapolis last night. I'm just a wee bit obsessed with the band right now, but I think I can objectively say that it was the best most awesomest concert ever put on by human kind, complete with sea chanties, audience participation, and spot-on Debra Winger impressions. Look how hard I rock with my new Decemberists T-shirt and tambourine. I'm thinking about starting a band. Or at least joining the Decemberists, if they would have me: That is my best pirate scowl. Needs work. I feel kinda bad taking half their tambourine after they already had all of their instruments and gear stolen last month, but I doubt the thing would be of much use to them anymore anyway. And at least at my house it will be worshipped nightly. I attended the concert with B Stacy B, and although I felt bad her view of the show was obstructed by some obnoxious hippy broad, I didn't feel bad enough to offer her my seat. But she enjoyed the concert anyway, and we danced the night away afterwards. Saturday night concerts are the best. ::: posted by dan at 10:18 PM :: [ link ] :: (9) comments
9 previous comments: ARrrrr matie. Yes it was a great show. I must admit, getting hit on by a fat hawiaan at the bar aftward is running a close second to the show. By BigDubb, at 1:27 AM I need to uncomfortably state again I might have a new favorite band...move over gaelic storm...thanks for bringing me. your shirt looks cute, with the exception of it being a tad snug...just kidding. By Stacy, at 9:44 AM Great band. I saw them last week in Iowa City. Don't feel bad about the tambourine, apparently they're throwing one out to the audience for every show. By Matt, at 10:57 AM They threw out a tambourine to the crowd as well. This was half of a damaged tambourine played during the whole show. It got a little beat up during the Tain, their 18-minute epic masterpiece. By dan, at 12:26 PM PSSST - Dan spilled a huge amount of blue cheese dressing on that t-shirt on Sunday afternoon and we all know he is wearing it right now, under his work shirt having not washed it. Gross. By brent, at 1:14 PM Are you eyes really that green or is it the shirt? By Kohn, at 1:24 PM I'm as green as that shirt with envy. Thanks to you Dan, The Decemberists are a new favorite of mine. By lynne, at 6:57 PM My eyes are a dull gray except for when I wear green Decemberist T-shirts. Then they perk up. By dan, at 1:10 AM Dan-you've completely turned me on to this band. Fanfreakin'tastic. Just saw they are coming my way next month (Nashville)...maybe I'll be fortunate enough to confiscate half a broken instrument! Thanks for the heads up on such musical genius!!
