If you have the luxury of cable TV, then I'd like to remind you to watch Stella tonight on Comedy Central, if only because I like it lots and I don't want it to be cancelled. I know, that's selfish, but it's not like I'm asking you to watch Joan of Arcadia or something. Stella is by the creators of Wet Hot American Summer (and The State), and the first two episodes were mighty good. Don't feel like you'll be lost if you missed their first two episodes. There is no underlying evolving plot and non-sequiturs are pretty much their bread and butter. So 9:30 central / 10:30 everywhere else. Be there or be square. Pretty please. ::: posted by dan at 12:05 PM :: [ link ] :: (19) comments
19 previous comments: Is the show itself funnier than the previously ubiquitous ads for the show? By jlp, at 1:24 PM Nope. By brent, at 1:50 PM If you have a sense of humor it is. Case in point. By dan, at 3:57 PM those dudes are wikkid funny! got to see their comedy act live a while ago. everyone in the audience thought they were funnier than brent. and they were. By jeremy, at 5:00 PM well...okay, I'll try it. But only because I finally succumbed to your Gilmore Girls pressures and I found myself pleasently suprised. By lynne, at 9:38 PM I did it. I just watched the show. I wasn't going to watch, but you were right, Dan, it's good for a laugh. And, a Sam Rockwell guest appearance? Terrif! Totally terrif! I love Wet Hot American Summer too. I thought I was the only one. By , at 10:27 PM Wet,hot American summer!!!Yay! Did I ever mention I am a fan? Cause I am...I forgot all about Stella again. That means I have to wait up till midnight for the re air By Stacy, at 10:31 PM I was sadly dissapointed. Love The State, love Viva Veriety, love Reno 911.. not loving it so much. By elcynic, at 10:50 PM Let me clarify, I didn't say Stella wasn't funny - I said, "nope" the show itself is not funnier than the ads. So if you think the ads are funny, than the show is funny. If you think the ads aren't funny - well then... and Jeremy, firstly, I would think it would be hard to compare a live show and a TV show featuring the same people from said live show...secondly, I didn't see the live show, so I would personally reserve judgment until I actually saw it myself. By brent, at 11:03 PM I could watch Michael Ian Black stand around making armpit noises for five hours and think it was funny. By dan, at 11:50 PM If you watch Stella, you must also watch Reno 911. By talwrite, at 11:55 PM This post has been removed by a blog administrator. By Honey Bunny, at 8:25 AM ugg. i have a sense of humor (and a girl boner for michael ian black), but i don't think stella is funny at all. which makes me kinda sad. i loved WHAS though. and i can't miss an episode of reno 911 or i go nutty. and i wish viva variety was still on. but stella? sadly, no. By Honey Bunny, at 8:26 AM I have to agree with Honey Bunny. I'm madly in love with Michael Ian Black, and not just becuase he grew up in the town next to mine in Jersey. I still can be heard quoting The State, and I tape Reno every week. BUT I just can't seem to get into Stella. I watched last night and I feel like I'm missing some inside joke or something =( ...Two hundred and forty dollars, worth a puddin' AWWWW YEH... By , at 8:48 AM I feel the same as those before me. I love Reno 911 and The State, but for some reason Stella just isn't doing it for me. I also feel like I'm missing out on some huge inside joke. Oh well. By H, at 12:58 PM Sigh. I'll miss you Stella. Someday, long after you're gone, you'll be considered an underappreciated masterpiece of televised genius. I know it. By dan, at 3:40 PM Yep, just like your favorite show, "Yes, dear" By brent, at 6:56 PM I watched it! By jlp, at 3:20 AM I think we're in the minority in liking Stella...and come to think of it, blogging about it too. http://planetjanet18.blogspot.com/2005/07/stella-gots-its-groove-with-black.html By Janet, at 9:29 AM < Back to Blog |
