Welcome to my Wedding Cake

I love snack cakes. Little Debbies... Hostess products... Zingers... what have you. Anything super sugary and overly processed tasting, basically. Ten individually wrapped Zebra Cakes in a box for a buck-o-nine. I came home from the grocery store with three different flavors of Zingers the other day. K-Mack thought me to be foolish and obsessive, but just knowing they were in my kitchen and waiting to be sampled made my days a little brighter.

Sno-Balls are my favorite, so when I learned that someone had ventured to make the largest Sno-Ball evar, I nearly lost consciousness:

View the entire ginormous Sno-Ball baking process here.

A few years back, right after he had watched some disturbing Food Network special about the creation of said snack cake treats, Brent actually bet me fifty dollars that he would never ever eat another one. No return bet was required on my part, which makes this deal particularly sweet. All I have to do is catch that fool with a snack cake and I get fifty bones (which if you're keeping track is nearly 500 zebra cakes). So if you ever see this guy with a Twinkie or a processed cupcake of any kind in hand (this includes Banana Flips and Oatmeal Cream Pies), then let me know and I will split with you my zebra cake bounty.

By Blogger george86, at 12:18 AM

Thats California Snow Geroge (yes it snows in California)

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 4:07 AM

The only thing that surprises me is that YOU weren't the one who made the giant sno-ball.

By Blogger elizabeth, at 6:32 AM

Banana flips are so good.
Do you know the fat contnt is a nutty bar though? It is unbelivable.Greg eats them in his lunch everyday and it makes me crazy he can do that and not weigh 300 pounds.
Brent eats sreamed veggies for lunch now I can't imagine you will ever be on the winning end of that bet.

By Blogger Stacy, at 7:31 AM

It's been at least a two years since that bet and I can honestly say I have never been tempted. No wait, I almost gave in last Easter when I saw those cute bunny shaped snack cakes at Target.

Wasn't the bet $100? Anyway, it aint gonna happen. No way, no how. I'm down 40 pounds and 5 pant sizes so nothing is tempting me now.

PS How come I always look tired, drunk or both in pictures you take of me? And if George86 is the same "Georg" that thinks we look alike, I'm sorry. We don't. Did you see how gorgeous my hair is in that pic? Kidding.

By Blogger brent, at 7:39 AM

I didn't even know you were engaged . . .

By Blogger jeremy, at 8:26 AM

Did you see Patty's birthday photos on the site where the photos are? EEEWWWWW!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 8:30 AM

do you all have Tastykake? I would kill for a butterscotch krimpet. So good... What's a banana flip?

That is just a gorgeous SnoBall I have to say. The picture with it covered in marshmallow brought tears to my eyes. Just lovely.

My husband thinks that snowballs make an excellent wedding present (he's given cases to at least two friends). I agree it's a good gift, as long as it matches the dish towels you also give them.

School field trip lunches were always my favorite because they included a can of pop and a Banana Flip from Mickey’s Bakery. Getting to see a real live mummy eating a Banana Flip and washing it down with a can of Grape Shasta while your supposed to be in school…doesn’t get any better than that!

george86 is not georg. I like to think i look like a young Audry hepburn... If she were a guy and chubby and balding.....and also a smack addict. Then we so look the same! EVERYONE says so!

By Blogger george86, at 12:14 PM

HEAVEN!!!

By Blogger stsundown, at 12:29 PM

I had my first sno-ball ever last week. I don't see the obsession...

By Blogger the other sarah, at 1:15 PM

Now, oatmeal cream pies I could eat my weight in... mmmm...

Brent don't tell my how they're made or what is in them.

By Blogger the other sarah, at 1:54 PM

Mmm..snoball. My favorite is when they come out with the holiday versions- green for st Patty's day, orange for Halloween. Can't say when the last time I ate one was though. The calorie/fat content makes me run away. Speaking of which, I'm curious to know what the nutritional info is for the GIGANTO BALL. That's gotta be a few days' worth of cals.

By Blogger Monkey, at 2:30 PM

Yeah, but those Easter cakes rock my world...

eww! is right for patty's birthday pictures! {shudder}

and in related large snack news, the giant cadbury creme egg http://www.pimpmysnack.com/project.php?projectID=2

By Anonymous mo diddley, at 8:31 PM

That means you need to see this.

By Blogger Tammy, at 9:00 PM

I too am surprised that it wasn't you who created the giant snowball.

Patty's birthday party: If it wasn't for the fact that there were no pics of T-bone and Dan, I'd swear it was a party they were at. I remember a story or two about ***cough*** "crotch shots"

By Blogger Colleen, at 9:39 PM

Never have liked snoballs but I totally agree with you on Zebra Cakes...yum...but I can't eat 'em anymore. :(

And I think Patty and her birthday friends ain't getting their security deposit on their place back...

Scotland, as you may know has one of the highest heart disease rates in europe, and something we scots pride ourselves on is our arterly clogging culinary delights such as the deep fried mars bar (in batter). This can be requested in most west of scotland chip shops. In fact, you can request most types of confection to be deep fried, with the exception of m&m's as these are bugger to fish out the fryer..

By Blogger McMuffin, at 6:53 AM

It's the perfect wedding cake for Dan cause it's pink. Dan, how come you're still in the closet?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1:48 PM

I've been craving sno-balls constantly for the past week.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 3:24 PM

Oh man...Patty's birthday party pictures are...so fucking gross.
Oh. It makes me hurt all over.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 4:46 PM

I just opened the Patty's pictures...

I used to make this joke when drunk enough to do body shots that mine were doubles... but whoah.

By Blogger the other sarah, at 4:55 PM

No, that's not Georg. That's me! And I also look quite different ;-). Another funny coincidence, though, because I often pick the Name georg76 on the internet or something related, since I was born in 1976. So if you see georg76 somewhere, that's probably me.

By Blogger Marshall, at 5:15 PM

... and there's not a thing in the world that would make me post my photo on the internet!

By Blogger Marshall, at 5:18 PM

At first I felt a bit slighted, but now I'm happy I wasn't invited to Patty's birthday party.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 7:26 PM

that's hot shit! i love sno-balls.

rock on, dan.

By Blogger Honey Bunny, at 9:05 PM

ps: who the heck is patty?

By Blogger Honey Bunny, at 9:08 PM

Wow, where to begin with Patty's party? I did think it was funny at the bottom of the page where it says "Do you like what you see?"

By Blogger stapler, at 9:42 PM

The day care I used to have to go to in summer when my mom needed a "break" from me and my brother (I have dealt with this in therapy so I am FINE NOW, DAMMIT) used to give sno-balls to us for our birthdays. They'd come out with a sno-ball and a candle and sing the song and then I would unpeel the marshmallow flava goo off of it and stick it on the wall somewhere. OR on someone's shirt. Or on a tree. I always got in trouble, but I did it every year. Then I'd suck out the white goop, THEN eat the chocolate.

Whatever. Habits die hard. I still can only have them on my birthday, and I still peel off the pink crap.

Found this site via DailyKos and the Bush animation.

Very good. Do you have any more?

Saw the pics of Key West 2002. I lived in Key West between 2002 and 2003 (stationed at the Navy base). I met my current wife there.

Love that place.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN BUY MICKEY'S BANANA FLIPS? ARE THEY STILL MADE? CAN I ORDER ON-LINE?
