MUSIC I buy a lot of CDs. And I live under the misconception that people care about my opinions. And I like to catalog things. Therefore I've decided to keep track of all the CDs I buy and what I think of them. Sunday, December 26, 2004 :::
Why I bought it: I downloaded a few tracks and was interested. Plus it wasn't on my Xmas list and I REALLY wanted to buy myself something that I was sure no one else would. What I think about it: It's almost terminally bizarre music with outlandish lyrics that sprawl out in every direction, but it's got a lot of good hooks and an almost theatrical vibe. It's impossible to classify and will scare most people away on first listen, but I like it. It makes me feel like I'm watching some subversive children's play written by a couple of emotionally disturbed performance artists. I guess you could call it avante-garde, and most people will probably consider it pretentious, but I sincerely like it for what it is: utterly original, really odd, and kinda catchy. Song(s) worth a listen: Mason City ; Turning Around ; Birdie Brained Listen at amazon. ::: posted by dan at 11:50 PM :: # |
