MUSIC I buy a lot of CDs. And I live under the misconception that people care about my opinions. And I like to catalog things. Therefore I've decided to keep track of all the CDs I buy and what I think of them. Saturday, June 18, 2005 :::
Why I bought it: I liked the single. What I think about it: I'm not the biggest White Stripes fan on the planet, in spite of their obvious talent. I just don't usually enjoy loud blues rock enough to appreciate it for CD-length durations. But I like their style and their singles (a little Jack White can go a long way for me). Luckily this CD cuts back on the rock and replaces it with a little more experimentation and a lot more piano, which is my personal preference because I'm kind of an wuss when it comes to music. I prefer to rock softly like an old lady. A lot of the CD is great, but it loses its momentum about halfway through and doesn't fully recover. Regardless, its my favorite White Stripes album yet. I just wish Rolling Stone would stop proclaiming them as the saviors of Rock N' Roll because they will never live up to those standards.
