Ba Ba Ba

Have you ever been out drinking or at a wedding reception or something and it gets to that part of the evening where everyone is just drunk enough to think that participating in a bar-wide singalong is a good idea? And that's when the DJ slips Neil Diamond's Sweet Caroline into the set just to watch the drunken mass make a collective fool of itself?

Now imagine if that bar were large enough to hold 50,000 people...

We went to see Neil Diamond for jBall's birthday. It was a great show actually, although the average age of the audience probably hovered in the 45-50 range, and he didn't play my favorite Soolaimon, and the third encore chorus of Sweet Caroline might have been a tad over the top...

But then what is Neil Diamond if not over the top?

Happy birfday jBalls!

ps. That vintage performance youtube link to Soolaimon is definitely worth a look, if only for dood faking the bongos.

It appears that your seats were only slightly better than the seats I had when I saw Neil play.

Seriously though the man was hot!! I had the unfortunate (although I think fortunate) glory to have been all but born to Neil Diamond. We had three records when I grew up Neil Diamond “Hot August Night”, Lincoln Mayorga “The Missing Linc” (which I would give my first born to find on CD) and John Denver’s “Rocky Mountain Christmas (I thought most of my childhood that little Zachery was another name for Jesus, …obviously my parents should have taken me to any church at least once). So back on track…..Neil Diamond played almost every day of my life and I wonder if I love him because he is really as good as I think or if it is just scaring from my childhood and I should immediately see a counselor?

I used to be into Neil, loved the movie "The Jazz Singer" & even own the ST on Lp. I moved on though since I'm a music junkie. But he's an amazing singer/songwriter.

*Heidi*, I looked up that Mayorga cd & found it on Amazon.com. I'll myspace the link to you.
